Five more matches are set for Sunday to determine the other quarterfinalists

Women Premier League (WPL) champions Vihiga Queens have suffered yet another shock exit from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women’s Cup, now in its third edition, after falling to Kisiwa Starlets in the pre-quarters.

This is a repeat of the 2023 Cup matches for Vihiga who lost in the quarters to Kisped thus missing out on title contention, having finished second in the inaugural edition won by Ulinzi Starlets.

Shamim Makokha was the hero of the day at Sudi Stadium with her first-half strike that put Kisiswa ahead of the Boniface Nyamunyamu charges who were chasing a double. The 32nd-minute strike made all the difference as Kisiswa won 1-0.

Meanwhile, Kenya Police Bullets are through to the last eight, the Beldine Odemba-coached side picking a 2-0 win over Kisumu’ Kisped who reached the quarters in the last edition.

Lucy Kwekwe opened the scoring for the law enforcers in the 31st minute to give Police a slim advantage heading to the break. However, Diana Wacera put the match to bed nine minutes into the second half to clinch the win and a last 8 berth.

Elsewhere, another premier league side, Nakuru Queens, were bundled out of the competition after going down 3-0 away to Bungoma’s Milima Queens. Barbra Masita opened the scoring two minutes into the second half after a quiet first.

The match seemed to be headed for a 1-0 victory for the hosts but Eunice Nabwoba struck twice in quick succession in the 81st and 88th minutes for the comfortable win.

Five more matches are set for Sunday to determine the other quarterfinalists.
