The winner shall gain promotion to the FKF National Super League alongside Division One Zone A champions Rainbow and their Zone B counterparts Luanda Villa

The Football Kenya Federation men’s Division One league playoff between Nairobi United and Zoo has been abandoned, Kandanda House announced on Sunday.

The development comes after the Sunday afternoon tie at the RVIST Grounds, Nakuru came to a premature ending, thanks to a period of crowd trouble that ensued as the game entered the 85th minute.

The decision to abandon the game was arrived at, as per FKF, to guarantee the safety of the players, match officials, fans and support staff.

At the time of the stoppage, Nairobi United were in the driving seat, as they had just gone ahead courtesy of an 80th minute goal by Brian Lusamukha.

With that, it is expected that the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee shall make a decision on the match upon receipt of the match officials’ reports.

The winner of the encounter shall grab the final and third available ticket to the second tier slot, joining the already promoted Rainbow FC and Luanda Villa SC.

Rainbow FC were last week crowned as the Zone A champions, with Luanda Villa winning the Zone B league, forcing the two runners-up in respective leagues to face off in the final playoff match-up.
