Green Commandos team manager Jared Anjira is confident that the team will do better in the coming 2023-24 season after working on the areas that cost them promotion last season.

The rich talent hub were among the teams fighting for promotion last season, but a lapse in concentration towards the end of the campaign cost them and ended up finishing third.

The promotion favorites finished behind Luanda Villa and Zoo FC and will hope to go guns out in the new season set to commence on Saturday.

The experienced football administrator revealed that lack of consistency in posting positive results, and lapse in concentration denied the team a place in the second tier, but expressed hope to perform better in the new campaign.

He further notes that using a young squad that was involved in other sporting tournaments also left them with a leaner squad to work on, and that limited the coaches tactical approaches to matches.

The former administrator said the team had used the preseason to address their weaknesses and improve the chemistry levels between the players.

Furthermore, the Kakamega based club roped in the services of highly rated tactician Kevin Asuba who is making a return to the club and is praised for his ability to squeeze results out of a young squad.

"I believe we will have a good season. Inconsistencies cost us last season and other factors like having a young team that was holed in a lot of activities played against us. But we are trying our best to work on it," he told Mozzart Sport.

Meanwhile, Anjira said the team had found quality replacements for two of their players among them; Victor Maliachi, who left the club for top flight football.

"We lost a key player in Maliachi but he has been replaced. I feel the team is in good shape and ready for the season," he added.
