The club has been fined slightly over six million for failing to comply with FIFA's nitial ruling.
World football governing body FIFA has piled even more misery on former Kenyan top-flight side Zoo FC after the body’s Disciplinary Committee confirmed the relegation of the team from the second tier National Super League (NSL) to the third tier Division One League.
The ruling to the Kericho based side came as a result of Zoo failing to comply with the very initial FIFA verdict that declared the club to be dropped to the third tier after being found culpable of match fixing allegations only for them to maneuver its way to the second tier.
In a letter dated 21 June 2022, addressed to Zoo chairman Ken Ochieng, FIFA revisited the earlier ruling and confirmed that the team should be moved down to the Division One league.
“Zoo FC is granted a final deadline of 30 days as from notification of the present decision in which to comply in full with its obligations under the above-mentioned Fifa decisions.
“In particular, the order of relegation of the first team of Zoo FC to the FKF Division One for the next season, shall be implemented prior to the start of the season 2022/2023,” stated the letter signed by Anin Yeboah, Deputy Chairperson of the Fifa Disciplinary Committee.

In addition, for failing to honour the earlier ruling that stated the club should have dropped to the third tier, Zoo has been ordered to pay a fine 50,000 Swiss Franc (around Ksh. 6,086,648).
“Zoo FC is ordered to pay a fine to the amount of CHF 50,000 for failing to comply in full with the decision rendered by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on 23 April 2021 (ref. FDD-6516), as confirmed by the FIFA Appeal Committee on 16 September 2021 (ref. FDD-8729),” the ruling read.
