Half an hour before the end, the Gunners had a two-goal lead – by full-time, the score was 2–2
Arsenal players absolutely could not afford to drop points against Wolverhampton, a team sitting firmly at the bottom of the Premier League table. Yet, somehow, they managed to do exactly that. Once again, Mikel Arteta’s side squandered a lead, this time letting a two-goal advantage slip, and to make matters worse, the equaliser came in the dying minutes of the match. As a result, Arsenal now sit five points ahead of Manchester City, but with an extra game played, meaning the cushion they once held has almost vanished.

Arsenal went into the break with a narrow advantage after a lively first half against Wolverhampton, controlling large spells and creating the better chances.
The visitors struck early, opening the scoring in the 5th minute. Declan Rice delivered a precise ball into the box from the edge of the area, and Bukayo Saka timed his run perfectly to head the ball through Jose Sa’s legs and into the net. It was a well-worked move that underlined Arsenal’s sharp start.
Just three minutes later, the Gunners almost doubled their lead. Wolves lost possession around 30 metres from goal, allowing Rice to step forward and unleash a shot from roughly 20 metres, but his effort drifted narrowly wide of the post.
Arsenal continued to threaten and came close again in the 18th minute. Noni Madueke curled a shot towards goal after a clever lay-off from Viktor Gyokeres. Sa initially failed to hold the ball, but recovered quickly to deny Gabriel Martinelli on the rebound.
Wolverhampton had a late opportunity to respond before the interval, as Andre tried his luck from distance in stoppage time, but his shot from around 20 metres went wide of David Raya’s goal.

Wolves came out with more intensity after the break and looked the more dangerous side in the early stages. In the 53rd minute, Adam Armstrong nearly punished Arsenal with a clever turn and a shot from outside the box, but his effort just missed the target.
Arsenal struck in the 56th minute through Hincapie, who finished calmly after a well-timed assist from Gabriel, finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The assistant initially flagged for offside, but VAR overturned the decision and confirmed the goal, giving Arsenal a 2–0 lead and Hincapie his first goal for the club.
Wolves responded quickly, pulling one back in the 61st minute with a stunning strike from Hugo Bueno. The defender received the ball on the edge of the box, shifted it onto his preferred foot, and unleashed a superb shot past David Raya to make it 2–1.
Deep into stoppage time, Wolves completed a dramatic comeback. A costly mix-up between Gabriel and Raya allowed the ball to fall to Edozie, who fired first time. His shot deflected off Calafiori on the line but still ended up in the net, securing a dramatic 2–2 equaliser for the home side.
