FA's 'change of hearts' deprives English minnows of £1,000,000

Had the FA Cup "rematch rule" in case of a draw remained in force, Tamworth would have earned over 60% of their annual revenue

Football teams, players, and coaches have lately been continually complaining about the demanding schedule. However, there is one club which would have nothing against it these days.

Namely, from this season's FA Cup campaign, the English FA has decided to scrap the rule of the rematch in case of a draw and thus reduce the number of games in the competition, including extra time and penalty shootout as "tie-breakers."

Had this rule remained in force, the fifth-tier minnows Tamworth would have been lavishly rewarded for their outstanding performance and the draw they salvaged against the giants Tottenham.

The estimated projections claim that the Lambs would have earned around £1 million had the game been replayed, which is a gigantic sum for Tamworth, given that their annual revenue amounts to approximately £1.6 million. Nevertheless, in the end, they were missing a bit of luck to add a fantastic financial profit to their arguably best-ever result and a draw with a Premier League side.
