FALSE 10: Eze Trilogy - Prophet, Traitor, Achiever

Reading Time: 8min | Sat. 29.11.25. | 12:25

Some stories do not need an author. Sometimes, they write themselves

Not all, for sure, but numerous movie fans will tell you that modern cinematography was built on trilogies.

From the classics, such as Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy, The Godfather Trilogy, and the time-travel adventure Back to the Future Trilogy, to newer cinematic works like Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, The Matrix Trilogy, or the epic fantasy adventure The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

It's all about that fascinating number three. It allows filmmakers to create a full circle, introducing, developing, and concluding their stories thoroughly. After all, one of the primary storytelling principles claims that things grouped in threes are more satisfying and memorable.

However, some trilogies, football trilogies, don't need a screenplay, they write themselves; don't need directing, the fate pulls all the strings; don't need music, just the sound of the ball rattling in the net, the crowd falling silent, loudly gasping, and going wild once the most magical of all moments in football happens - once a goal is scored.

The trilogy we're talking about doesn't even have a full cast. There's only one actor, one hero, one main role. A man in a red and white jersey, with a cannon on his chest, number 10 on his back, hair braided into thin braids, and a broad smile on his face.

It's The Eze Trilogy.

Chapter 1: The Prophet

Eberechi Eze has always been an Arsenal fan - although born in South London - but his love wasn't reciprocated right away. In the last couple of months, his story of "crying in his room for a solid week" after his beloved club released him from their youth categories became as famous as some literary classic.

A tough blow for a 13-year-old kid, undoubtedly, but also a huge motivation for a lad who never gives up.

Eze left Arsenal, but Arsenal never left his heart. That's how he became - The Prophet.

It's April 17, 2015, and the soon-to-be 17-year-old Eberechi plays for Millwall's youth team. It's been four years since he was forced to leave the Emirates Stadium, and ever since, he has struggled to find himself and a club where he truly belongs.

Brief spells at Fulham and Reading showed him that Craven Cottage and Madejski Stadium weren't his home. Millwall's legendary Den Stadium wasn't it either. Perhaps he actually believed one can have two homes, and maybe he refused to deceive himself. He's Arsenal's child, and the stadium on Hornsey Road in London was the only place he belonged to.

Either way, on the aforementioned April day, he made a prophecy. The one that undoubtedly made many laugh, and about which those same jokers talk with pride and admiration.

"I swear imma make it and when I do, they're gunna show this tweet lol," young Eze wrote on X in his South London slang.

Only he knows whether he truly believed his words, but he was bold enough to say them out loud, to share them with the world at the risk of ridicule, and that's why these 16 words hold all the belief you can imagine.

In the end, you know what? It doesn't matter if he was actually convinced he'd make it one day or if he just tried to boost his confidence. Because ten years later, his prophecy began to come true.

Chapter 2: The Traitor

Drive for success is an odd thing. It can make you become someone else, someone you don't know. It can make you insincere, not towards others - people can be easily fooled, that's axiomatic - but towards yourself. And there's no person in the world - think of the greatest liar you know - who managed to delude themselves.

It's August 2025, and Eze has been a professional for a long time. Good people at Queens Park Rangers gave him a chance and didn't regret it. But after four years at Loftus Road Stadium, he needed a new challenge.

Going back where his heart belonged wasn't an option, and the feasibility and truthfulness of that tweet were still hanging in the balance. Something like "Schrodinger's cat" - Eze's prophecy was both dead and alive, hypothetically speaking.

So, he returned to South London in 2020, spent a magnificent five years there with Crystal Palace, won the club's two maiden trophies, became a legend, and honestly told the fans at Selhurst Park that it was time to move on.

Little did he know that on August 20, 2025, he'd become - The Traitor.

The concept of treason can be peculiar at times. Sometimes, you can be a traitor to the whole world, except for only one person - yourself. They'll call you "a snake" like they did Kevin Durant or "a rat" the way they called Alexander Isak, but deep inside you'll know you're as pure and sincere as morning dew and the August sun.

You don't believe it? It happened to Eze.

As we mentioned, it's August 20, and he has been in talks with Tottenham for some time. The two clubs have reached an agreement regarding the compensation, and all that's left is his consent.

Here it was - a chance, knocking on his door.

A chance to make another step towards greatness, to make everyone who laughed at his tweet a decade ago turn red with embarrassment, and to succeed.

However, just like with a treason, for the whole world, a transfer to the UEFA Europa League winners and the UEFA Champions League team would be an utmost success. For Eze... not so much.

Does the satisfaction of success taste the same when you join the rival forces? Is it worth it? Eze knew that both answers were negative, and he pulled an ace up his sleeve, taking a desperate action - he made a phone call.

But not a phone call to just anyone, but to Mikel Arteta himself, with a simple question instead of "how do you do." He had to know if they wanted him.

"Is there a chance?"

We can't exactly cite what the Spaniard told him, but the nature of the answer seems rather clear, as he was back home three days later. Red and white jersey with a cannon on his chest, number 10 on his back, and a pencil in his hand - to mark the day his prophecy came true.

Is it treason when you listen to your heart? Does choosing what you love make you a traitor? Who cares. Eze was about to fulfil his dream.

Chapter 3 - The Achiever

Yes, he signed with Arsenal, the only club he ever loved, and the packed Emirates Stadium welcomed him. Children came just to see him, holding banners with his photos and heart-warming messages written beneath them, but even then, Eze felt it wasn't all. Something was missing.

He needed to become - The Achiever.

Now, many would argue that Tottenham boss Thomas Frank and his "Who's Eze?" speech in the pre-North London Derby press conference had something to do with Eberechi's motivation, and they are right, it certainly did its part. However, even before the Dane's remark, Eze knew that it was D-Day.

Long before that derby day, November 23, he knew that only playing for the Gunners wasn't enough. Making a mark is what counts. It's something that stays forever.

"These supporters, Ebz, will love you like you can never believe bro. Can you do one thing? If you do one thing, just score in the derby, bro."

"You score in the derby, this is going to be the most watched. I can't wait for the derby, because it's coming," Arsenal legend Ian Wright told him days after he signed.

But what the club's second all-time leading goalscorer didn't know was that Eze was aware of his every word. He knew what had to be done; he knew what it took to go down in history and make that long-ago written prophecy real altogether.

However, the 27-year-old didn't listen to the popular Wrighty. He somewhat modified the received advice. After all, this is a trilogy, isn't it?

The 41st minute, Declan Rice sends him a perfect pass. Excellent first touch and a quick move to the right. Rodrigo Bentancur is on the ground. Joao Palhinha is late to snatch the ball, Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso are late to block the shot. BANG! The first one is in.

Thirty-six seconds after the break, this time Jurrien Timber is the passer. Again, fantastic ball control, again, he's alone, again, he hits the mark! The second one finds the target.

Half an hour later, Leandro Trossard finds him. First touch, body feint, Destiny Udogie is on the ground. Seconds later, the third one is in! It's a hat-trick!

And although he definitely wasn't aware of it during the game, the history was written. He'd made it.

On November 23, 2025 - precisely ten years, seven months, and six days after that famous tweet - Eberechi Eze became only the fourth player in the history of the North London Derby after Arsenal's Ted Drake (1934) and Alan Sunderland (1978), and Spurs' Terry Dyson (1961).

Three goals for history, three goals for the trilogy. For the Prophet, the Traitor, and the Achiever. For a Gunner with a three-letter last name - Eze.
