Ex-United & City players come to Inter's rescue and edge past sturdy Lecce

Three days before the Champions League return game against Bodo/Glimt, in which they have to chase a two-goal deficit, the Nerazzurri barely beat Lecce on the road 2-0

Good news first: Inter Milan recorded their seventh consecutive Serie A win, beating Lecce 2-0 and now have a ten-point lead ahead of their city rivals, who face Parma tomorrow. The scent of Scudetto is in the air around Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

However, there's the other side of the coin. Last Wednesday, the Nerazzurri embarrassed themselves in Norway, falling short against Bodo/Glimt (3-1), and in three days, they have to chase that lead at home and hope to prevent a major slap in the face.

But let the result of today's clash in Apulia not deceive you - despite the 2-0 win, Cristian Chivu's men's performance wasn't good enough. Yes, they made as many as 24 attempts (nine on target), but broke the deadlock only in the 75th minute thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan's rebound strike following Federico Dimarco's cross.

Seven minutes later, Inter's wing-back took a perfect corner kick, and Manuel Akanji sealed Lecce's fate, doubling the home team's lead.

Still, the Nerazzurri's efficiency will have to be on a much higher level in three days, or the team that played two Champions League finals in the past three editions will be knocked out already in the playoffs.
