And you still don't believe in fairytales?!

This is such a strange world we're living in. Billions of people spend their entire lives peacefully and anonymously, while only a few have experienced things worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster movie.

That's precisely the story of former Manchester City forward Mikheil Kavelashvili, who has become the new president of his home country, Georgia.

He joined the Cityzens in 1996 and made his wonder debut in the derby game against Manchester United. He netted in a loss to their nemesis at Main Road.

Following City's relegation, he played 24 games for the Sky Blues in the second tier. However, that number was not enough to secure a renewal of his work permit, so he went out on loan to Grasshoppers, winning a Swiss Super League in 1998.

Fast forward to December 2024, and Kavelashvili has been appointed president by Georgia's parliament. Kavelashvili, now 53, is a former MP from the ruling Georgian Dream party and was the only candidate for the job. On Saturday, 224 out of 225 members of Georgia's electoral college voted for him.

The four main opposition groups have rejected Kavelashvili and have boycotted parliament, insisting that the elections held in October were rigged.
