The impressive defender has attracted the attention of numerous clubs with his strong performances at Roma

Europe’s elite are already planning defensive reinforcements for next season, and one name keeps popping up near the top of their wish lists — Evan Ndicka. The Ivorian centre-back, who spent five years at Eintracht Frankfurt before joining AS Roma in 2023, now appears ready to take another step in his career.

According to Caught Offside, several heavyweights — including Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United — are closely monitoring his situation. Bayern Munich are also said to be keeping tabs, while Tottenham have shown interest as well, although their current Premier League struggles may shift their priorities elsewhere.

With a reported price tag of around €45 million, Ndicka is widely seen as a great-value option given his development. Since arriving in Rome, he has taken his game up a level, playing a key role in a side currently sitting sixth in Serie A. His recent form has been particularly eye-catching, highlighted by goals in three straight matches.

Roma previously turned down an approach from Saudi Arabia, but the situation may have changed. UEFA’s financial regulations are putting pressure on the Italian club to bring in transfer income, or risk facing sanctions, which could force them into a sale.

If Ndicka does move on, choosing his next destination won’t be straightforward. Liverpool could offer a logical fit, especially with Virgil van Dijk entering the latter stages of his career and uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konate’s future.

At Manchester United, the picture is less clear — Harry Maguire has revived his role, but his long-term future remains unresolved, while Matthijs de Ligt’s injury record is a concern. At the same time, the club is keen to gradually integrate young defenders like Lenny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

Breaking into Barcelona’s lineup might prove even tougher given the intense competition for places. In contrast, Ndicka has established himself as a reliable and influential presence at Roma, quietly leading by example.

Over the past three seasons, consistency has been his trademark — he didn’t miss a single game last season, and this year only sat out five matches due to his involvement with Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Looking ahead, Ndicka will also have international duties to consider, with Ivory Coast set to face Germany at the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
