The 21-year-old lit up AFCON with his impressive dribbling skills

Abubeker Nassir who won the hearts of many with his dazzling displays in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations for Ethiopia is in South Africa for trials at PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to reports emanating from South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns lead the race to sign the forward with a number of clubs in the Premier Soccer League also eying his signature.

Following the elimination of Ethiopia from the tournament, Nassir flew to South Africa to finalize his move from Ethiopian Premier League outfit Ethiopia Coffee SC.

The 21-year-old had a season to remember last campaign as he finished as the top scorer with 29 goals in 23 games as Ethiopia Coffee finished runners up.

His outstanding performances earned him several accolades including being crowned the league’s top goals scorer, Best Young Player, and the Most Valuable Player.

He was part of the team that took part in the 2016 AFCON U-17 qualifiers that beat Egypt in Cairo for the first time and capped his wonderful performance in the game with a goal.

After finishing as top scorer in the previous season, SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Baroka FC were rumoured to be after his services back in 2021.

The forward has four goals to his name already this season for Sidama Coffee but is unlikely to add on to his tally with a move away from the club on the cards.
