The match, which also marked the first time a WPL match was staged under the floodlights, saw the Law Enforcers win 2-0 courtesy of goals from Elizabeth Ochaka and Rebecca Okwaro.

Speaking after the match, Akida, who has traversed the World courtesy of football and played on some good surfaces, explained the importance of that experience to her team.

“I really appreciate the federation for giving us this chance to play at this facility. At least the girls felt what it is to play in such a pitch and had an opportunity to acclimatize to what happens, for instance, when you play abroad or for the national team,” said Akida.

His coach, George Bob Okallo, also joined in appreciating FKF's efforts to secure the venue.

I thank the federation for stepping up and giving us a good facility. This is what we have been praying for, and I believe the fans saw a good game,” stated Okallo.

The experienced tactician also weighed in on the match, explaining why his team suffered defeat.

“I am obviously disappointed by the results, but so proud of my girls. We had opportunities to score, but we didn't capitalize on them.

I want to congratulate Police for being a worthy opponent. They pushed us and eventually broke the deadlock from a corner,” he added.

Nonetheless, Okallo explained why he is still satisfied with the FKF Cup defending champions.

I am also proud of the foundation we are laying at Kibera Soccer. This will be a formidable team to compete next season and possibly a title contender,” he added.
