Akida has won three league titles since moving to Greece

Harambee Starlets striker Esse Akida has announced her departure from Greek Women's Football Championship winners PAOK.

Taking to her social media handles, the former Thika Queens forward expressed gratitude to the team while also highlighting some of the highs with the Double Headed Eagle of the North.

During her stay with PAOK, Akida featured in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and won the Golden Boot in her first season as they asserted dominance in Greek women's football, including bagging a double in the just concluded league campaign.

“My lovely PAOK. It is time to say goodbye. I'm writing this with a heavy heart, knowing that you gave me your all in my three-year stay with you.

“From the moment I arrived in Greece, you have been nothing short of spectacular in my football journey. From the coaches, players and most importantly, the fans, I felt appreciated by you all.

“You realized my dream of playing in the UEFA Women's Champions League, helped me win the Golden Boot in my first season and most importantly, we asserted dominance in Women's football throughout Greece to remind the world that we are the DOUBLE-HEADED EAGLE OF THE NORTH.

“Although we didn't do well in continental assignments, I believe we have laid a better foundation for future Starlets to fly the PAOK flag to greater heights.

“No matter where I land next in this journey of football, know that I'll always be cheering you on,” read Akida’s statement on Facebook.

Akida joined PAOK back in July 2021 from Kenya Women Premier League (WPL) side Thika Queens and she emerged as the top scorer with 18 goals in the 2021/22 season.

The Kenyan star – who has been a member of the Harambee Starlets side since 2012 – is yet to make clear her next stop after ending a three-year stay in Greece.
