Deeply disturbing and concerning scenes in Copenhagen!

Danish footballer Christian Eriksen has collapsed on the pitch during the EURO 2020 match against Finland 40 minutes into the game. Eriksen has collapsed to the ground with no one anywhere near him. He had appeared fine seconds earlier. The match was suspended instantly...

Eriksen, 29, currently playing for Inter Milano, was not moving for more than 10 minutes before he was taken away to hospital.

Referee Anthony Taylor, as well as both sets of players, saw the severity of the issue instantly and called on medical staff. Eriksen received CPR and medical treatment straight at the turf. His teammates formed a shield around the former Tottenham man, while fans inside the stadium were clearly stunned by the incident, with some pictured in tears.

Denmark's FA official account soon tweeted to say Eriksen is awake and in for further examinations at Rigshospitalet Hospital in Copenhagen, which is just 1km from the Parken Stadium.

Many were surprised that this game continued regardless those circumstances, but, as per many media, the key part of this news is that the request was made to continue the match from both teams, upon hearing the news that Eriksen was in hospital and in a stable condition.

He was later able to speak to his teammates.

"We've been in contact with him, and the players have spoken to Christian. That's the great news. He's doing fine, and they are playing the game for him," DBU director Peter Moeller told Danish television.

Eriksen was voted man of the match in a gesture of support.

"Moments like this put everything in life into perspective," said UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.

- Finland's first-ever EURO victory-

After the resume of the match, Finland were much more concentrated on the pitch and celebrated their first-ever EURO victory thanks to their only shot on target. Pohjanpalo reacted with a fine header following Uronen's cross, while Schmeichel Jr. couldn't stop the ball although he almost had it in his hands. On the other end, the Danish side had the finest opportunity to even the things with a penalty, but the Finish keeper easily denied Hojbjerg's deplorable shot.
