Marcelo is enjoying a breaktaking season with AIK where he has scored a goal and provided an assist.

Kenyan international Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after players in the Swedish Allsvenskan with Celtic joining the illustrious list of clubs chasing his signature in the summer transfer window.

The former Gor Mahia left wing-back has previously been linked with moves to English Premier League champions Manchester City and Leicester City in last campaign's offseason transfer window.

According to Fotboll Direkt, a Swedish news outlet, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is monitoring the speed demon as he hopes to bolster his left-back options ahead of next season where they hope to make it to the UEFA Champions League group stages.

The record Scottish champions are however yet to table a bid for Marcelo with the two clubs yet to formally open discussion according to Fotboll Direkt and it is still unclear how much it would cost Celtic to land him.

The 25-year-old still has two years left running in his current contract with AIK and the club are reportedly not in a rush to sell him as they await a tempting offer that will be hard to turn down.

Celtic are also on the radar of Hammarby IF left-back Mohanad Jeahze should talks with AIK for Marcelo break down with Postecoglou on the hunt for a new left-back this summer to provide genuine competition for Greg Taylor.

Despite having 34 caps for Harambee Stars it is reported that Celtic have raised concerns about Marcelo’s lack of European club competitions as the left-back is yet to feature in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, or Europa Conference League.

According to Transfermarkt, Marcelo’s current market value stands at €1.5M (Ksh187,000,000) with his value rising by ten folds after joining the club back in January 2020 from Vasalund.
