Enemies swap - Brentford toppled Reds and pushed them behind Man United
Reading Time: 4min | Sat. 25.10.25. | 23:59
Who would have thought just a few rounds ago that Manchester United would be sitting above their biggest rival in the standings? Brentford took care of that tonight with a 3–2 win over Liverpool
Just a few days ago, Liverpool were spitting fire, dismantling Eintracht Frankfurt 5–1 away from home. Their fans might have hoped that performance marked a turnaround after a rough spell — but tonight’s defeat to Brentford likely brought that optimism crashing down. The visitors looked poor throughout, while Brentford stayed composed in front of goal and celebrated a confident 3–2 win.
The Bees struck early — in the 5th minute, Ajer flicked a long throw toward Ouattara, who reacted brilliantly with a volley into the net to give Brentford an early advantage. The goal is HERE!

Liverpool responded quickly and nearly equalized in the 10th minute when Mohamed Salah found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Kelleher pulled off a superb save to deny him.
Florian Wirtz came close for Liverpool in the 20th minute after a deflection fell kindly to him, yet his shot drifted just wide. Moments later, Cody Gakpo fired narrowly over the bar from outside the box. Brentford also had their chances — Nathan Collins tested Mamardashvili with a strong header in the 30th minute, but the Georgian goalkeeper was up to the task.

As the half progressed, Brentford continued to threaten through long-range efforts from Ouattara and Damsgaard, while Liverpool’s Curtis Jones saw his shot blocked easily by Kelleher after a scramble in the box.
Just before halftime, Brentford doubled their lead in spectacular fashion. In the 45th minute, Mikkel Damsgaard led a quick counterattack, threading a perfect pass to Kevin Schade, who calmly finished past Mamardashvili to make it 2–0. You can see the goal HERE!

However, Liverpool managed to pull one back deep into stoppage time. In the 45+5 minute, Milos Kerkez finished a cross from the right flank, sending the ball past Kelleher and giving the Reds hope going into the second half. The goal is HERE!

Brentford continued to dominate in the second half, creating a series of dangerous chances. In the 52nd minute, Igor Thiago made a great solo run down the left side but his shot was too weak to trouble Mamardashvili. Just two minutes later, Thiago was at it again, receiving the ball inside Liverpool’s box and attempting to round the Georgian goalkeeper, but Mamardashvili once more came out on top.
Brentford kept pressing, and in the 55th minute, Mikkel Damsgaard tried his luck from distance, forcing yet another fine save from Liverpool’s keeper. The pressure finally paid off in the 59th minute — after Ouattara was fouled by Virgil van Dijk inside the penalty area, VAR confirmed a spot-kick. Igor Thiago stepped up and calmly converted, extending Brentford’s lead to 3–1. The goal is HERE!

The hosts nearly added a fourth in the 65th minute when Kayode sent in a perfect cross for Ouattara, but the forward squandered the chance with a poor header.
Still, the match was far from over. In the 89th minute, Mohamed Salah latched onto a cross inside the box and struck it first time — the ball bounced off the crossbar and into the net. The goal is HERE!
