Ramos won't represent Spain in this year's European Championship, leaving the national team without a single Real Madrid player
It was a hard decision to make, but it has to be made. Spain national team coach Luis Enrique has left the legendary defender Sergio Ramos out of his squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament. One of the most decorated players in Spain's history, who earned 180 caps for La Furia Roja, will no longer wear the national team jersey.

The 35-year-old Real Madrid captain has had an injury-plagued season and has started just 15 La Liga matches this season. His omission is nevertheless a surprise, considering that he has made 180 appearances for the Spain national team, winning one World Cup and two European Championship titles. It is the first time Ramos has not been named in a Spain squad for a major tournament since Euro 2004.
Ramos' omission means this is the first time that Spain will travel to a major tournament without a Real Madrid player in their squad. Ramos' omission means no Real Madrid players in the Spain squad, with right-back Dani Carvajal currently out injured.

"My conversation with Sergio yesterday remains private. I won't tell anyone. It was not easy to tell him something which was not positive for him, but I have to make decisions which my staff and I consider is best for the team."
