There's one guy we would like to have a chat with this night more than ever. It is AS Cherbourg (a French fifth-tier side) coach who decided back in 2012 that Edouard Mendy is not good enough for them.
Yes, less than ten years ago, Mendy was written off from an unknown French slot.

Today, he was named the Champions League's goalkeeper of the season! The 29-year-old Senegalese custodian is the first African keeper to earn such a reward.
However, he is not the only Chelsea player to be honoured today since Ngolo Kante was named the UCL midfielder of the season. Their tactician, Thomas Tuchel, deservedly won the UCL coach of the season award.
