The CECAFA-based sides have one foot in the second round after their campaign-opening wins

Two Tanzanian giants, Yanga SC and Simba SC, have one foot in the CAF Champions League second qualifying round after triumphing in their respective matches on Saturday.

Yanga recorded an emphatic 4-0 win over South Sudan's Zalan who were hosting their home match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam as there is no CAF-approved Stadium back in their home country.

Fiston Mayele grabbed a hat-trick with Salum Faisal scoring the other goal to complete the four-goal rout and give the Tanzania Premier League reigning champions an advantage going into the return leg.

On the other hand, Simba picked a comfortable 2-0 away win against Malawi's Nyasa Big Bullets courtesy of goals from Moses Phiri and John Bocco ahead of the second leg encounter next weekend.

Simba were under the tutelage of John Mgunda who was appointed the interim coach after the club parted ways with Zoran Manojlovic alias Maki who joined Egypt's top-tier side Al Ittihad Alexandria Club hours after his departure.

Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC made use of their home advantage to stop Tunisia’s US Monastir 1-0, with Uganda's Vipers also getting the advantage with a 3-0 win over Olympic Real de Bangui.
