Insigne netted from the spot before the Bosnian striker equalized to keep his side at the Serie A summit

They call him 'The Diamond' in his home country for a good reason. He shines whenever his team needs him.

And that's precisely what Edin Dzeko did tonight at Diego Maradona stadium in Napoles, as Inter dug deep to grab a point against inspired Napoli, 1-1.

This draw means the Nerazzurri stay on the top of the Serie A table with a point above their tonight's rivals.

The hosts were furious from the starting block, netting just five minutes into the game. Skriniar stood on Osimhen's foot, and the Southerners were given a penalty after the VAR consultancy.

Insigne was excellent from the spot to make it 1-0.

The holders were close to tying the game at one through Dzeko, but his header was awful. The same player did almost the same soon after the sides returned from the break. However, this time Napoli's defence reacted clumsily, allowing the Bosnian striker another shot, this time a volley with his right to bring the match into a stalemate.

Osimhen was close to putting the hosts in front again shortly after, but his stroll through the area ended with a curl inches away from the target.

The most significant opportunity of the game saw a first-half substitute Elmas missing the sitter on the right flank, with Inter's keeper Handanovic denying his close-range effort to save his team. Dzeko and Handanovic are to blame for this draw which keeps the status quo in the Italian championship.
