Duke Abuya joined Nkana from Kariobangi Sharks in 2020

Kenyan International Duke Abuya has joined Kenya Police FC on a one-year deal.

The midfielder was formerly contracted with Zambia's Nkana FC but his contract with the 13-times league champions lapsed earlier this month.

Following the expiry of his contract, Police FC came calling and it was a no-brainer for Abuya after being offered a better deal by FKF Premier League side.

A reliable source close to the player revealed that the former Kariobangi Sharks midfielder is excited about his move to the ambitious club, and is raring to go, adding that their ambition helped him make the decision.

"He's excited to join Police and their ambition is what impressed him. He's hoping to hit the ground running," the source told Mozzart Sport.

Abuya becomes the fifth high profile and experienced player to join the ranks of the Police Men after Musa Mohammed, Duncan Otieno, Clifton Miheso, and John Mark Makwatta.

He is expected to partner with Duncan Otieno in midfield, with Miheso and Makwatta offering attacking options as Musa provides cover at the back.

The 27-year old player is expected to link up with the national team Harambee Stars in camp in preparation for their dead rubber 2022 World Cup Qualifier return leg against Uganda Cranes in Uganda and against Rwanda in Nairobi on November 10, 2021 and November 16, 2021 respectively.
