Tusker bagged their fifth straight win after flooring Sofapaka

Former Kenyan international Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omolo started life as Shabana head coach in the best way possible after guiding the club to thump Nzoia Sugar 5-2 at Sudi Stadium on Sunday.

Pamzo joined Shabana four days ago marking his return to the touchline after more than a year out.

Despite having little time to prepare for the trio to Nzoia, Pamzo inspired Shabana to their fourth win of the season and their first in the second leg.

They had to do it the hard way as Nzoia took the lead through Emmanuel Osoro in the 20th minute.

The lead didn’t last long as Justine Omwando leveled matters for Shabana in the 22nd minute and would seal his brace in the 38th minute.

Nzoia restored parity in the 59th minute through Salim Murunga who struck from the spot.

Omwando capped what had been a good evening for him with Shabana’s third goal that also sealed his hat-trick in the 71st minute after scoring from the spot.

Debutant Mathew Tegisi marked his first game while in Shabana colours with a brace after finding the back of the net in the closing stages of the game.

In other matches played on Sunday, Tusker registered their fifth successive win after thrashing Sofapaka 3-1 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Erick Kapaito, Fabian Adikiny, and David Odoyo were on target for the brewers with Keegan Ndemi scoring the consolation goal for Sofapaka.

The win saw Tusker rise to third place on the log, nine points off the back of Gor Mahia.

A first-half goal by Jaffari Owiti saw AFC Leopards beat Muhoroni Youth at the Jomo Kenyatta Mamboleo Stadium.

FC Talanta also needed a goal to beat Murang’a Seal 1-0 at the St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a.

Meanwhile, KCB held Ulinzi Stars to a barren draw at the Lang’ata Sports Complex.
