If anyone thought Manchester United had turned a corner against Chelsea, they were mistaken – three goals conceded and a missed penalty leave them trailing 3:1 to Brentford

Where will Manchester United’s downfall finally stop? Nobody seems to have the answer anymore. Away at Brentford, Amorim’s side once again delivered a dreadful performance in a match where they had the chance to level things up at 2-1. The nightmare continues for the Red Devils.

Brentford took an early lead against Manchester United in a thrilling first half at their home ground, eventually leading 2-1 at halftime.

The opener came in the 8th minute, when Thiago capitalized on a surprisingly sloppy United defense, particularly from Harry Maguire. The Brazilian midfielder fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. There was a brief VAR check to see if Thiago was offside, but the goal was confirmed as valid. Manchester United responded quickly, with their first effort coming in the 13th minute. Mateus Cunha unleashed a shot from around 20 meters, but it flew wide of the target. Just two minutes later, Brentford had another close call; Kayode managed to get a strike almost from the touchline, but Bayindir was alert and kept it out.

Moments later, the Turkish goalkeeper showcased his class. Nathan Collins connected with a cross twice and nodded toward goal, but Bayindir denied both attempts, looking every bit like a prime David de Gea.

Despite Bayindir’s heroics, Brentford’s dominance in the first 20 minutes was undeniable. Thiago struck again after a rebound: Kevin Shade’s initial effort from the left was saved by Bayindir, but Thiago was quickest to react and put the ball into the net, doubling the home side’s lead. Manchester United managed to pull one back in the 26th minute. Benjamin Sesko took advantage of a rare error by Kelleher. After hitting the post twice and having his initial attempts blocked, Sesko finally found the net on his third effort, reducing Brentford’s advantage to 2-1. You can see the goal HERE!

In the 52nd minute, Manchester United tried to level the game through Matheus Cunha. After receiving a precise pass on the edge of the box, he attempted a low strike toward goal, but Kelleher comfortably gathered the shot that went straight down the middle.

Brentford had an opportunity of their own in the 61st minute. Van den Berg found himself in a good position after a smart assist and managed to get a shot away, though his effort lacked power and was no trouble for Bayindir.

Just two minutes later, Kevin Schade brushed Diogo Dalot aside with ease before squaring the ball to Ouattara. His attempt was dangerous, but Bayindir produced another solid stop to keep United in the match.

The visitors were handed a lifeline in the 71st minute when the referee pointed to the spot. After Mateus Cunha’s clever pass, Bryan Mbeumo was pulled back by Nathan Collins inside the area. Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take the penalty, but Kelleher guessed correctly and saved brilliantly, preserving Brentford’s advantage.

In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Jensen sealed Brentford’s triumph with a stunning strike from 20 yards, smashing the ball past Bayindir. The goal is HERE!
