APS topped the National Super League last season and earned automatic promotion.

APS Bomet FC head coach Charles Odera hopes that his team will not be forced to go back to the second tier saying it will dash the hopes of his players who are preparing to feature in the FKF Premier League next season.

Bomet earned a promotion to the top tier after topping the second tier but their promotion remains a subject of contention. Firstly, the Sports Disputes Tribunal ordered that they should not be included in the top-tier fixtures alongside Fortune Sacco until a matter challenging their elevation to the top tier by Murang’a Seal FC is heard and determined.

Secondly, Mathare United and Vihiga Bullets sides that were relegated last season and were supposed to be replaced by the duo insist that they have retained their top-flight status as last season was not run as per the FKF constitution, their claims partially received backing from the SDT when it ruled that the Independent and Appeals Committee that was formed by the Transition Committee is an illegal entity and should not have handled any disputes.

As the debate continues to ramble, Odera is hopeful that his team will not be denied a chance to play in the top tier as he opined it will not only affect the players but also sponsorship.

“It will be a big blow because these players have been preparing to play in the top tier and taking them back to the National Super League will be killing their hopes and it will also affect sponsors and potential sponsors because they can easily throw in the towel and that will mean loss of livelihoods".

The former Oserian and Chemelil Sugar also hopes that the wrangles being witnessed in football will soon be put to rest.

These players rely on football, most are from humble backgrounds and this is their career, it helps them fend for their families. We hope that we will remain in the top tier and that we have properly run leagues, football has to be streamlined in the country. We do not need politics in the game, the relevant people should d what needs to be done so that we can have things running normally,” he added.
