
Djibouti, Burundi to kick off 2023 U20 AFCON

The finalists will automatically qualify for the finals set for Egypt
The clash between Djibouti and Burundi will kick off the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone on Friday in Khartoum, Sudan.
Seven teams including Djibouti, Burundi, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Ethiopia are contesting for the two slots available at the main event in Egypt.
According to the fixture, the opening match will be followed by a clash between the hosts Sudan and their neighbors South Sudan in the second match at the same venue to wrap up the first round in Group A, with the tie between reigning champions Uganda and Tanzania taking place on Saturday followed by a two-day break.

Action resumes on November 1 with two matches in Group A as Burundi face South Sudan while Djibouti take on Sudan, then Tanzania taking on Ethiopia a day later.
Ethiopia and Uganda start off the final round in the groups on November 5, with clashes between South Sudan and Djibouti and that of Burundi and Sudan taking place the same day also.
The top two teams in the two groups will proceed to the semis set for November 8.

The tournament is set to culminate on November 11, with the third-place playoff curtain raising the final at the Al Hilal Stadium.
