Legendary Roberto Baggio was watching the match with his family when at least five people broke into his villa

Former Juventus, AC Milan and Italy forward Roberto Baggio was injured in an armed robbery at his home in northern Italy while watching the EURO 2024 game between Gli Azzurri and Spain on Thursday night.

Reports suggest that at least five people broke into the 57-year-old's villa in Altavilla Vicentina.

Corriere della Sera reported that the violent incident took place while Baggio and his family were watching the match.

The local media reported that Baggio was taken to an emergency room and was treated with stitches to his forehead as one of the burglars - whom Baggio tried to stop - hit him on the forehead with a gun.

After that, the former football star and his family were locked in a room while the culprits tore the house apart, searching for valuables.

When the footballer felt it was safe to do so, he broke down the door of the room they were locked in and called the police.

Baggio remains the only Italian to score at three World Cups and remains their joint top goal scorer in the competition.
