The midfielder signed a contract extension that is set to last for four months.

Highly rated defensive midfielder Collins Shichenje has made a dramatic return to AFC Leopards after ending his fruitless stint with Greek side PAOK. Shichenje has penned a short contract with Ingwe that expires in June 2022.

Shichenje raised eyebrows when he was named on the AFC Leopards matchday squad that faces Posta Rangers as he started from the bench.

According to Shichenje’s new contract his deal is set to expire at the end of June and will still operate under the terms of his previous contract at Ingwe.

“The parties agree to extend the Original Contract for an additional period, which will begin immediately upon the expiration of the original time period, and subsequently attending trials in Europe, and will end on June 30th, 2022,” read part of the contract.

His current deal also has a clause that hands him a right to terminate the contract before its expiry, meaning should he stumble upon a bumper contract elsewhere he will leave.

Shichenje’s new deal will however adopt other terms and conditions of the Original Contract that was signed back in August 2020.

The lanky midfielder signed for Ingwe in 2019 after impressive displays at Green Commandos but took one year to nail down a regular starting berth at the club.

His return to AFC Leopards will be a big boost with the club currently serving a transfer ban which has locked out the signings made in the January transfer window.
