Bad news for the Blues: Chelsea striker Liam Delap is not expected to begin training again before November, The Athletic reports on Wednesday.
As things stand, the England Under-21 international won't need surgery, but his layoff is estimated to be approximately ten weeks from the time of the injury, which happened on August 30.
Delap is set to miss the beginning of Chelsea's Champions League campaign, which includes a trip to Bayern Munich on September 17, while Maresca's side also play Premier League champions Liverpool on October 4 and travel to Tottenham Hotspur on November 1.
Delap, the son of legendary Rory, joined Chelsea for £30million from Ipswich Town at the start of the recently ended transfer window. He has made six appearance for the Stamford Bridge outfit at the Club World Cup, scoring once. Delap also started two of Chelsea's opening three Premier League games.
Chelsea return to action on Saturday following the international break against Brentford.
