Not really a dreamy start for Ajay Tavares in the new jersey

A little over a month ago, Barcelona announced the arrival of the talented teenage winger Ajay Tavares from Norwich City.

After featuring for England U-17 in the European Championship qualifiers, it was time for the youngster to join his new teammates and make his debut.

However, he won't fondly remember his first outing with the Catalans...

According to the Spanish media outlet Sport, Tavares was named a starter in Barca U-19's clash against Gimnastic Tarragona U-19 (2-1). The 16-year-old started the game perfectly, running riot over the left wing and being one of the most inspired players in the Catalans' ranks.

However, at one point while trying to reach a ball, Tavares slipped and collided with a perimeter structure at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper stadium, hitting his head severely. At first, everyone remained terrified, as the teenager lay motionless on the ground, but soon regained consciousness and managed to get back on his feet.

Still, he was forced to leave the pitch and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a severe concussion and a shoulder injury.

Hopefully, the remainder of Tavares' stint with Barca will be much more memorable, as his debut was truly forgettable.
