After eight years at Old Trafford, the defender is on the brink of joining a Serie A side
Remember Victor Lindelof? After eight years at Old Trafford, he recently became a free agent. But, according to sources from Italy, not for long.
Namely, the Swede is on the verge of a new challenge, as he is close to joining the Serie A side Fiorentina and his ex-United teammate David De Gea. Everton were also interested in the defender, but he opted to change league and move to the Boot.

Lindelof joined United back in 2017, and was relatively regular in his first years in Manchester. However, the COVID-19 pandemic in a way marked the breaking point for him, after which things started going south for him.
First, he was infected with the virus, which caused certain heart problems. Afterwards, the injuries just started piling up - back, groin, hamstring, toe... You name it.
In the last four years, Lindelof was sidelined for almost 250 days! And with that injury-proneness, he was nowhere near adequate form and a place on the team.
Consequently, his number of games played gradually decreased over the years, reaching its lowest point last season when he made 25 appearances in all competitions, clocking around 50 minutes on average per game.
Nevertheless, the Swede is only 31 and obviously believes he can still play on a high level. And who knows, perhaps this significant change in team, league, and country will benefit him.
Anyway, Lindelof gave his best years to Man United, and the Red Devils' fans should never forget it. In eight years at the Theatre of Dreams, he made as many as 284 appearances, scored four goals, won two trophies (the 2022/2023 EFL Cup and the 2023/2024 FA Cup), and reached the UEFA Europa League finals twice (in 2021 and 2025).
