Darwin's (r)evolution! 10-man L'pool rise from the abyss to grab a win at St. James' Park

The Magpies were one up, VVD was sent off, everything seemed to be going awful for the visitors. But don't forget it's Liverpool we're talking about here...

Unbelievable, crazy, so Liverpool-eish! Jurgen Klopp's side beat Newcastle 2-1 in a high-voltage rollercoaster at St. James' Park on Sunday night after coming from behind despite the fact they played the most of the match without Virgil van Dijk, who was sent off before the half-an-hour mark.

What a spectacle, what a night to remember. Another iconic one in the history of the Scousers. And it started so awfully for them, as the hosts struck early through high-flying youngster Anthony Gordon, who kept torturing Trent Alexander-Arnold on that right wing.

TAA's amateurish mistake following Mo Salah's pass provided Gordon with a clear-cut chance and he didn't hesitate to put it past Alisson for an early 1-0 lead.

Instead of bouncing back, the visitors pushed themselves further down the hole with VVD's red card after the Dutch centre-back took down Alexander Isak near the edge of the box as the last man in Liverpool's defence.

The Magpies, cheered by their ecstatic crowd, felt this was just the time to tear the Reds apart. Almiron launched a superb volley, and Alisson reacted marvellously to keep his side afloat. The pressure on Klopp's back line became almost unbearable, but after failing to double the lead, the hosts suffered a shocking rival's late comeback. Darwin Nunez came in with only 13 minutes left on the clock. Alas, it was enough for the Uruguayan forward to bag a jaw-dropping brace, with two almost similar goals.

The other one, for the win, came deep into a stoppage time to silence packed St. James' Park and ruin the day for Eddie Howe and his lot.

Never, ever underestimate L'pool, not even with their backs to the wall. It's the moment when they can hurt you the most!
