Sources from Portugal have recently confirmed that the Man United boss and right-back are distant relatives through their great-great-grandfather, Carlos Dallot
If anyone ever wondered why Diogo Dalot has been almost irreplaceable in Ruben Amorim's starting XI, the answer is very simple - the two are related!
Jokes aside, according to Geneall, Portal of Genealogy, the Man United boss and right-back are indeed long-distance relatives through their great-great-grandfather Carlos Dallot.

The Portuguese ancestral website Geneall stated that the duo are great-great-grandsons of Carlos Dallot, a 19th-century circus artist.

Born in France, he was a circus artist, and alongside his siblings, Jose and Julia, he travelled and performed across Europe before settling permanently in Braga, Portugal, where Diogo was born in 1999.
Throughout the years, the last name lost one "L", though the defender had previously confirmed that it had French origins.
As for Amorim, even though he was born in Lisbon and has no connections to Braga - except for being the player and manager of the club from this city - his connection to Dalot's is now undeniable.
The two cousins have been collaborating at Old Trafford since the manager's arrival in November 2024, while the right-back plays his seventh year in Manchester.
Under Amorim, Dalot started 39 out of the possible 54 games and came off the bench in five.
