Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of the Brazilian

The main question regarding Philippe Coutinho’s potential transfer from Barcelona to another club is not „if“, but „where?“. It has been reported a number of times that the Catalonians would be happy to get rid of the injury-phone, over the budget player which they bought for the unbelievably sum of 22 billion Ksh. But the question was always which club would pay at least half of this sum they gave to Liverpool, and what’s more important – which club would absorb his 1.1 billion Ksh a year wage?

Finally, a name came up. And it’s not any of the big clubs in Top 5 European Leagues, but a rather ‘soon to be big’ club in England – Leicester. Various reports are starting to come out with the same title - Coutinho to Leicester. The main reason for the story is Foxes coach, Brendan Rodgers. This guy just loves the Brazilian player, full stop. The first time Rodgers wanted to sign Coutinho was when he was 14 (!) and Rodgers was youth coach at Chelsea, but he was beaten by Inter Milan. The second time, Rodgers was successful, as he lured the Brazilian when he became Liverpool coach, and 1.2 billion Ksh fee was a bargain for the player. When he was sold in 2018, Rodgers claimed that his transfer fee allowed Liverpool to by no less than three players: Van Dijk, Alisson and Fabinho - three players who have transformed the team.

And now, he wants to hook up with Coutinho in Leicester, as per Mundo Deportivo. The price which has been mentioned is only 3 billion, a lot less than 22 paid by Barca in 2018. In the remaining days, it will be seen if there are any real developments in this story. Everton and Arsenal have also being mentioned as potential suitors, but his former coach, and a possibility to play for Europa League would suit Coutinho better.

As for other transfer news, the FA Cup winners are thought to be closing in on the signings of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare and Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. The Foxes have also been linked with a host of other players, while their cup final hero Youri Tielemans is said to be a target for Liverpool.
