The young Frenchman followed the footsteps of his future teammate Dan-Axel Zagadou

In the previous days and weeks, there were rumors around Westphalia, but they were officially confirmed on Thursday: Sumaila Coulibaly (17) will be the first reinforcement of the future coach of The Millionaires Marko Rose.

Coulibaly was under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the summer, but, like his future teammate Dan-Axel Zagadou, instead of continuing his career at Prince's Park, he decided to sign a five-year contract with Dortmund, realizing that Westphalia is the right environment for its further development.

"I'm grateful for my time at PSG, but there is the right step for me. I had other offers from other clubs, but I knew straight away that Dortmund was the right choice for me. When I first spoke to the BVB officials, I knew straight away that this was the right club for me. I can't wait to get started at my new club" - Coulibaly said after the signing.

Foreign media describe Coulibaly as one of many Paris Saint-Germain „pearls“ who decided to build a senior career outside Paris. The young Frenchman is playing in the position of the stopper, where Dortmund is in deficit this season and whose strengthening has been marked as a priority for the next competition year.

Coulibaly joined PSG’s youth academy in 2019, after in his hometown of  Montfermeil, near Paris. Coulibaly hails from the fertile football turf of the Ile de France, the region around Paris that has turned out top-class players such as Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba, as well as those who have made the Bundesliga their home in recent years such as Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman and Tanguy Nianzou, Bayer Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby, RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku and new Dortmund teammate Zagadou.
