Heroes, finished thirteenth last season and, will start their 2023/24 campaign at home against Mara Sugar on September 16.
National Super League side Coastal Heroes has announced a three-day long recruitment exercise as part of their preparation for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The trials commenced on Thursday, August 18 at the Ronald Ngala grounds and will run to August 20 according club chairman Kennedy Onukho.
The start of the trials puts to rest rumours which had earlier indicated that the outfit is up for sale after struggling to make ends meet from the time they lost Kenya Power and Lighting Company sponsorship.
Under the tutelage of Hussein Mohamed, the coastal side is planning to use the recruitment exercise to identify new talents that, will bolster their squad and help them mount serious promotion challenge in the upcoming season.
"We are determined to gain promotion this campaign and this drive is an essential part of our strategy to gather a competitive team for the upcoming season. We are looking to have talented players who can significantly contribute to our targets," said Onukho.
The ongoing trials are open to players from across the country though in the spirit of developing coastal talents, players from the region are highly recommended for the three-day event, with aspiring footballers getting an opportunity to showcase their skills and impress the team's coaching staff.
"We encourage more players from Coast to show up," he said.
The selection process will involve various training drills, friendly matches and assessments by the technical unit with successful trialists putting pen to paper on Monday at the team's headquarters in Mombasa.
Coastal Heroes, formerly Coast Stima, are hoping to finalize their transfer business on Monday and subsequently, play friendly matches set within Mombasa and away from the coast region.
The team will however, have to wait longer to determine the number of players who will exit as a good number have been linked to dee-pocketed outfits.
Last season’s top performers in offensive players Sele Bobo,Malo Malo, custodian Said Dhalo,Mwema Mwanza, teenager Rama Mwanzia and Lucky Kaingu have all been tipped with a move away from the club.
