Coastal Heroes team manager Ken Onukho has termed the decision by Kenyan international Abud Omar to train with them as a source of inspiration to the team ahead of the final ten rounds of the season.

Abud who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Greece side Athlitiki Enosi Larissa at the start of the month graced the Heroes training session on Thursday much to the jubilation of the joy of the players who had an opportunity to rub shoulders with the revered left back.

Onukho said the Abud’s presence was enough to motivate the players who mostly look up to and consider him a role model.

“It is always a pleasure to have Abud pass by and train with us. This time round, he visited us when we badly need the motivation to win a couple of matches. Some of our players consider him a role model and I am sure the talks he had with them will push them to perform better in the remaining matches,” he said.

Meanwhile, Onukho tipped the struggling outfit to survive relegation. Heroes are placed third from bottom with 27 points but Onukho says that five wins from the remaining ten rounds will be enough to catapult them to safety. The club that was enjoying sponsorship from the Kenya Power and Lighting company up to 2020 is winless in the last three matches.

We only need to win our remaining home matches and we will be safe. We need to be keen in taking chances and defending as a unit for us to beat the drop,” he added.
