Sundowns finished their group campaign without tasting any defeat

Kenyan international Clarke Oduor made his 50th appearance for Barnsley FC in the EFL Championship as the team took on Reading in a round 40 clash played at Oakwell Stadium on Saturday evening.

Elsewhere, in South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns, home to Kenyan defender Brian 'Niang' Mandela sealed top spot in their Group a CAF Champions League clash played at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

Here is a wrap of how the action unfolded.

Clarke Oduor

Having watched Barnsley's last league outing from the bench, the utility left back was brought on as a second half substitute as his side conceded a late goal to surrender a long held lead against Reading as the two sides played to a 1-1 draw.

Carlton Morris, who had opened the scoring in Barnsley's last two games at Oakwell, did so again as he found the bottom corner just five minutes into the game after John Swift had lost possession.

Barnsley would hold onto that lead into half time and even into the second half where Oduor was introduced in the 69th minute.

With only eight minutes left on the clock though, Reading's Josh Laurent, who scored the winner against Blackburn last time out latched onto Michael Morris' pass to slot home a crucial equalizer that kept Reading very much alive in the fight to avoid the relegation.

The one point from the draw left Reading seven points off safety as Barnsley remained twelve points off.

Brian Mandela

The Kenyan international was not present as his Mamelodi Sundowns side confirmed their top spot in Group A with a convincing 3-0 win against Al-Merreikh.

Mandela was serving a red card suspension from a previous CAF Champions League match against Al Hilal Omdurman.

In his absence, Sundowns got on with the business of the day as George Maluleka scored in the first half before Bradley Ralani and Kermit Erasmus added the two goals in the second half to safely assure Sundowns a place in the continental quarter finals.
