Onyango scored his maiden goal for City Stars in the 3-1 win against Wazito

Nairobi City Stars defender Kennedy Onyango is elated after opening his goal account for the club in the 3-1 win against Wazito at Thika Stadium last week.

Onyango made the switch to City Stars last season and went ahead to feature for the better part of the season but never scored the entire 2020/21 Premier League season.

Against Wazito, Vidic, as he is commonly known, rose highest to head home a Dennis Wanjala cross from a free kick in the 76th minute to open the scoresheet and set the mood for three more goals in the game in the remaining minutes.

The defender revealed that the goalless run in the previous campaign had gotten him worried but finding the net once again gave him a nice feeling.

“Thanks be to God. I was actually worried for not scoring in the previous campaign even after playing 32 of 33 games. It feels nice scoring again. Expect more.” the defender told the club's portal.

While at Homeboyz, he was among the highest-scoring defenders in the 2019/20 Premier League season but failed to find his scoring boots upon his move.

in the entire prefererred back four for City Stars last season, Onyango was the only defender who did not score, with Kevin Okumu, Salim Abdalla, and Bolton Omwenga chipping in with goals at some point in the season.

Onyango has managed to help City Stars keep two clean sheets, against Kenya Police and recently against Bidco United, and has conceded only four goals, three of those coming in the 3-1 drubbing to Sofapaka in the opener.
