Hakim Ziyeh bangs a hattrick in the 6-1 landslide victory against the newly promoted Championship side Peterborough United

It's too early to foresee what the season will be like and too tempting to jump to conclusions, but Chelsea seem like they're doing just fine.

The Champions League winner won their maiden pre-season game, played behind the closed doors, against the second-tier side Peterborough United on Saturday. It was a 6-1 (2-1) trashing, to be precise, with the Morrocan star Hakim Ziyech scoring a hattrick in the second half.

Thomas Tuchel picked two almost entirely different squads for two halves.

Chelsea were 2-1 up going into half-time with goals from Abraham and Pulisic, giving the Blues an advantage after going a goal down to a Peterborough penalty.

Tuchel made several changes in the second half with the likes of Ziyech, Conor Gallagher, Baba Rahman, and Armando Broja introduced.

The Moroccan bagged a hattrick in his 45 minutes of action whilst young striker Broja also scored and assisted.

An impressive win for Tuchel's men will have given the coach further insight into what his returning players have to offer ahead of the new season.
