Facing a charged atmosphere at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, the North Africans silenced the home crowd with a clinical and composed display that underlined their tournament ambitions.

“This result is a product of serious work and focus. Playing away is never easy, especially in such a setting. We controlled the game in all phases, tactically and technically,” Bougherra said in his post-match comments.

Ayoub Ghezala set the tone with a well-timed header before Abderrahmane Meziane added a second with a composed finish.

Soufiane Bayazid sealed the win late on to complete a dominant performance from Bougherra’s side.

The numbers told the story: Algeria controlled 55 percent of possession, completed 443 passes with 81 percent accuracy, and registered five shots on target.

They finished the match without a single booking, in contrast to Uganda’s three yellow cards, a mark of their discipline under pressure.

Bougherra credited the extended preparation period as a key factor. “Finishing our domestic league early gave us the advantage of time. We were able to work on our structure and build cohesion in our system,” he noted.

Meziane, who scored one and assisted another, was instrumental in the front line, supported by the movement and creativity of Belhocini and Mahious, who consistently troubled the Ugandan backline.

Despite the convincing scoreline, the Algerian coach remained cautious. “There are still areas we need to polish. Our spacing between the lines needs better management. Top teams will look to exploit that,” he warned.

Algeria leads Group C with three points and a strong goal difference, heading into their next fixture with growing confidence and a coach focused on continual improvement.
