
CECAFA Women’s CL: Fixtures for inaugural zonal CL qualifiers released

Kenya’s representative in the competition, Vihiga United are pooled in Group B against Commercial Bank (Ethiopia), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan) and New Generations (Zanzibar).
After a series of postponements, the CECAFA zonal Women’s Champions League qualifiers have finally been set to run from August 28th to September 9th in Nairobi, Kenya with the official fixture schedule released.
The 2021 CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers is the 1st edition of the CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers, a women's club football championship organised by the CECAFA for the women's clubs of association nations.

Initially, in this inaugural tournament, there were nine teams pooled into three groups comprising of three teams each. However, only 8 teams will now take part in the tournament as Scandinavian FC from Rwanda withdrew from participating in the tournament.
After the Rwandese side’s withdrawal, CAF were forced to do another mini draw to place the two remaining teams in either Group A or B. Now there are two groups with four teams each.
Kenya’s representative in the competition, Vihiga United earned a ticket to the CECAFA Champions League by virtue of being the 2019 league champions. They are pooled against Commercial Bank (Ethiopia), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan) and New Generations (Zanzibar) in Group B.
Group A – PVP FC (Burundi), Simba Queens (Tanzania) and Lady Doves (Uganda) and FAD FC (Djibouti).
Group B – Vihiga Queens (Kenya), Commercial Bank (Ethiopia), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan) and New Generations (Zanzibar)

The side that wins the CECAFA Women's Champions League will automatically qualify for the inaugural CAF Women's Champions League that is set to take place in Egypt in December.
The inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League is slated for November and will run all through to December 2021 in Egypt with eight teams set to participate in the tournament.
