Enterprising AFC Leopards duo says it is soon to talk about winning the league

AFC Leopards pair Peter Thiong’o and Isaac Kipyegon have downplayed talks of them winning the FKF Premier League title this season.

Ingwe has been one of the top sides in the league this season and currently sits second in the log with 32 points, two behind league leaders Tusker FC. They also have a game in hand against Mathare United which if they win they will go top in the log.

Thiong’o however says it is too soon to talk about the league title. The winger says the focus is to perform in each and every game to put themselves in a good position.

It’s too early to talk about winning the league. Right now we are playing one game at a time, our focus is to get the best result in each and every game then see where we will be at the end of the season, we do not want to put pressure on ourselves right now,” he told Mozzart Sport.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz man hopes his team will win the game in hand against Mathare United and leapfrog Tusker to top the league.

We have a game in hand and if we win it we will go on top in the FKF Premier League table, we will try to remain on top for as long as we can,” he added.

Kipyegon says the thought of clinching the title is exciting but warns it is too soon to talk about Leopards ending its 23-year wait for a title.

Obviously we would love to win the league title but we cannot discuss winning it at this stage. The race will have many twists and turns but we want to remain among the top teams and see what happens at the end of the season,” he stated.

AFC Leopards’ next assignment will be against Posta Rangers.
