Brentford forward will join the Red Devils in a transfer worth €82 million, becoming the third player from Cameroon in the history of the Manchester giants

One of the longest June Transfer Window sagas is over! Brentford and Man United have reached an agreement, removing the final obstacle in Bryan Mbeumo's path towards Old Trafford. The Red Devils will splash out €82 million - €75 instantly + €7 million through bonuses - in four instalments for the Cameroonian. Thus, he'll become Africa's third most expensive player after Victor Osimhen and Nicolas Pepe.

Last season, United were the fifth-worst attacking team in the Premier League, with just 44 goals scored. They were more efficient only than the three relegated teams - Leicester, Ipswich, and Southampton - and Everton, and something had to be done.

The men in charge of finding the net, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, combined for only seven EPL goals, as Amad Diallo was the only decent United forward with eight goals in England's top tier.

Hence, the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo, who netted 35 times together in the previous Premier League campaign, have been essential. Still, United had to break the bank and pay over €150 million for the duo, and the fans can only hope that all that money will pay off.

Mbeumo will sign a five-year deal with the Red Devils with an option for an additional one-year extension, becoming the third Cameroonian at Old Trafford after Andre Onana, who is still there and Eric Djemba-Djemba (2003-2005).

Before Brentford, Mbeumo played only for the French side Troyes, where he started his professional career. Still, the forward left the most significant mark at Gtech Community Stadium, where he spent six years, made 242 appearances, and scored 70 goals.

Now, he's leaving the Bees as their fifth all-time appearance maker and third all-time leading scorer. Not a bad legacy, is it?
