Cameroon's Professional Football League wrote to FIFA and AFA asking them to remove Eto'o
Samuel Eto’o football career was perfect, and he was the joy for all Cameroonians. But his off-the-field activities since retiring and becoming an executive are far less assuring. In fact, they are seriously damaging his own personality, as well as the Cameroonian Football Federation, whose president is Eto’o himself. And that is why Cameroon's Professional Football League (LFPC) have decided to try to speed up the process and sent a letter to FIFA and the African Football Association, demanding Eto’o to be fired.
“While Fifa's swift and decisive action in the Luis Rubiales case is to be appreciated, it is surprising that it has remained silent on similar, perhaps even more serious, cases involving other associations, in particular the Cameroon Football Association. Can you imagine FIFA and UEFA remaining silent if the president of a European football association is suspected of match-fixing and audio recordings prove this?” it said it in the letter.
LFPC insists that Eto’o helped Victoria United's promotion, and as revealed, said to the club’s president: "Stay calm, we'll give you your three points and we'll suspend the referee." Needless to say, Eto'o denied these allegations. But this is not his first suspicious affair. Since becoming president of the Cameroonian Football Federation in December 2021, Eto’o has admitted tax fraud from his Barcelona days and agreed to a suspended prison sentence and an additional fine, and then attacked a YouTuber after the Brazil game against South Korea at the World Cup. He was accused by Henri Njalla Quan, former vice president of the Cameroonian Football Federation of attempting to destroy goalkeeper Andre Onana's career. In May 2023, Eto'o signed a personal sponsorship agreement with the betting agency 1XBET, which is a breach of the FIFA Code of Ethics. A lot of ‘fouls’ in Eto’o’s political career, but will he be guilty for any of those?
