CAFCC: Rupia on target as Singida edge out Egypt's Future FC

Kenyan international Elvis Rupia was off to a perfect start at his new workstation in Tanzania, scoring on his debut as Singida Fountain Gate edged out Egypt's Future FC 1-0 in a CAF Confederation second-round match.

The former Police FC talisman recently joined the Tanzanian outfit, linking up with his compatriot and former teammate Duke Abuya.

Rupia was on duty with the national team in the just concluded international break, joining up with the team on Thursday but he was drafted straight into the first team.

With the match all square eight minutes into the second half, Rupia latched onto a headed ball before driving the ball home from a tight angle with his preferred left foot, then wheeled away to the embrace of Abuya.

Singida will travel to Egypt on October 1 for the return leg carrying the slim advantage as they look to make it to the group stage for the first time, with a draw in the match enough to see them sail through.

In other matches played on Sunday afternoon in the same competition, Ethiopia's Bahir Dar Kenema upset Tunisia's Club Africain, hitting them 2-0 to carry the advantage into the return leg.

At the Nyayo Stadium, South Sudan's Al-Merrikh held Angola's Academica do Lobito to a barren draw while Maestro United Zambia, MUZA, lost 1-2 to Congolese outfit CSMD Diables Noirs.

Uganda's Kampala City were hammered 3-0 in Libya by Abu Salim Tripoli
