CAFCC: Napsa Stars land in Group of Death after eliminating Gor Mahia

Napsa Stars who dumped Gor Mahia out of the CAF Confederation Cup have landed a tough group, facing reigning champions RS Berkane.

Zambian cup champions Napsa Stars have landed a tough Group B in the CAF Confederation Cup as they were paired with reigning champions Renaissance Sportive de Berkane.

Napsa Stars handed Gor Mahia a painful exit in the qualifiers, scoring a 96th-minute penalty to proceed with a 3-2 aggregate following an entertaining 2-2 draw in Zambia.

Algerian giants Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie are also placed in Group B in the draw that was conducted on Monday 22 February at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt with Cameroonian record champions Coton Sport rounding up Group B.

Group D also has some entertaining fixtures with last season’s CAF Champions League semi-finalists Raja Casablanca, Egyptian money bags Pyramids FC and Zambian champions Nkana FC bound to lock horns.

Tanzanian minnow Namungo who have one foot in the group stages still have to play a return match after recording a 6-2 victory against CD de Agosto of Angola in the first leg.

The winner of the match will book a ticket into Group D with the first leg postponed following reports of some Namungo players being quarantined in Angola.

South African giants Orlando Pirates were placed in Group A alongside Nigerian heavyweights Enyimba, Algeria side Entente Sportive Sétifienne and Lybian side Ahli Benghazi.

Tunisian giants Étoile Sportive du Sahel were paired against compatriots CS Sfaxien, Burkina Faso Salitas and Senegalese side ASC Jaraaf.

Group B: RS Berkane (Morocco), JS Kabylie (Algeria), Coton Sport (Cameroon), NAPSA Stars (Zambia)

Group C: Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) / Young Buffaloes (Eswatini) / Young Buffaloes (Eswatini), CS Sfaxien (Tunisia), Salitas FC (Burkina Faso), ASC Les Jaraaf (Senegal)

Group D: Raja (Morocco), Pyramids FC (Egypt), Nkana FC (Zambia), Namungo FC (Tanzania) / Primeiro de Agosto (Angola)
