The second day of Match Day 1 produced goals with Mamelodi Sundowns and Esperance off to wins in the tournament.
Former champions Esperance and Mamelodi Sundowns kickstarted their CAF Champions League campaigns with wins over Teungueth and Al Hilal respectively on Saturday 13 February.
Esperance 2-1 Teungueth
2019 champions Esperance got their campaign underway with a win but had to come from behind to beat a resilient Teungueth FC side.
The Senegalese champions took the lead through Gibril Sillah in the 33rd minute but were unfortunate to concede at the stroke of half time when Esperance were handed a penalty.
Pape Sow was judged to have handled the ball but the decision seemed a bit harsh as he attempted to withdraw his hand but Taha Khenissi held his nerve to slot the penalty.
Abdul Khalid scored the winner in the 73rd minute courtesy of a brilliant header from Ben Romdhane’s cross.
Esperance move to the summit of Group D with the win after last edition's finalist Zamalek registered a barren draw against MC Alger on Friday.

TP Mazembe 0-0 CR Belouizdad
Congolese giants TP Mazembe were held to a barren draw by CR Belouizdad in Group B with the Algerian champions registering their third straight draw in all competitions.
The draw extends Mazembe’s unbeaten run to 18 games with their last loss coming against Raja Casablanca back in February 2020.
Mazembe now sit third in the group with a point as they trail Belouizdad.

Horoya 2-0 Petro Atletico
Horoya opened their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Angolan giants Petro Atletico after a season’s hiatus from the tournament.
Dramane Nikiema opened the scoring for Horoya in the 36th minute before Joaquim Adão was shown his marching orders in the 44th minute for a second bookable offence.
Yakhouba Barry sealed the three points for Horoya in the 85th minute to extinguish hopes for Petro who were pushing for an equalizer.
The Guinean side now sit top of Group C with the win after the Wydad Athletic clash against Kaizer Cheifs was postponed.
Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 Al Hilal
Sundowns began their post-Pitso Mosimane continental journey with a win over Sudanese giants Al Hilal.
Kenyan international Brian Mandela was missing from the matchday squad for Sundowns who opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Mosa Lebusa.
Former Cape Town City FC forward Kermit Erasmus assured all three points for the South African champions in the 90th minute.
