Homeboyz travel to Nairobi this evening.
Al Hilal Benghazi have landed in Nairobi ahead of this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stage match against Kakamega Homeboyz.
The Libyans touched down in the capital on Wednesday and will have ample time to prepare for Saturday’s match that will be staged at the Nyayo National Stadium. The match, which is expected to be hotly contested, will kick off at 3 p.m.
Led by Egyptian manager Mohamed Ouda, the Benghazi-based club will hope to secure a favorable first-leg result against the debutants ahead of the return leg in Benghazi in a week’s time.
Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz will leave their Kakamega base this evening for Nairobi.
Patrick Odhiambo's side shift training camp to the capital three days before the match day. This is in a bid to shake off any form of fatigue before the Saturday game.
The shield winners were in Nairobi on Saturday for the FKF Charity Shield game against Gor Mahia, a game that they lost 4-2 through penalties.
Speaking ahead of the game, Homeboyz boss Odhiambo promised a more robust side would show up for the game against Benghazi.
"The results we got in the Shield and the preceding friendly matches do not imply that we are not ready for the new season. The main objective of the matches we played was to spot the areas we need to work on in the remaining bits of the pre-season. You will see a different Homeboyz on Saturday,".
He, however, admits that there is a scoring problem in his team.
"The friends helped us realize the problem in the forward department. We haven’t been scoring goals from our chances. We will work on it.".
