Nairobi City Stars winger opens up on his ambitions after netting first league goal
After netting his maiden goal in Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), Nairobi City Stars winger Rodgers Okumu has outlined his season's target of finding the goal a minimum ten times.
Okumu joined the league returnees in November 2020 from National Super League (NSL) side Coast stima and hit the ground the running on Tuesday when he put the ball over the goal line in their 2-0 win over Mathare United at the Kasarani Annex.
The Bombolulu born player who claimed an assist during their 2-1 win over Zoo FC late last month said the goal cooled his nerves after waiting for almost four months to get off the blocks.
"It feels nice to score my goal City Stars goal and my first in the top flight. The goal will motivate me to reach my target of scoring at least ten goals and having fifteen assists against my name," he opened up
The 22-year old who joined Coast Stima in 2015 from Ziwani Youth, a grassroots based in Bombolulu club thanked coach Sanjic Alagic for having faith in him and giving the upcoming players at the chance to showcase their talents in the top league.

The Bosnian gaffer is understood to have been impressed with the player christened as Okuse in February last year when Coast Stima shocked City Stars 3-1 at Camp Toyoyo in a NSL match.
Alagic would later deep into the Stima's yard after gaining promotion and leave with the services of the speedster alongside those of Herit Mungai who initially plied his trade with FC Talanta and Kariobangi Sharks.
"The coach has been pushing me to work hard and I am happy to repay his faith in me with a goal. He believes in young players and always gives us the chance to express ourselves," he added
Okumu signed a two-year deal with City Stars
