Build it up, tear it down: PSG banish the guy who won three trophies in as many years

Paris Saint-Germain have given up on Galtier after just a year
It was supposed to be a match made in heaven: an ambitious club, expensive players, fanatical support from the stands and a coach with a proven track record. It was supposed to be a dynasty, a winning machine to conquer everything for years and years. But Christophe Galtier's reign as Paris Saint-Germain boss will end tonight.
PSG have won the Ligue 1 title, but it wasn't enough for the Qatari owners. Ligue 1 is merely a training facility for the team to get into the groove and win the UEFA Champions League. But despite having six high-profile coaches since the takeover in 2011, Les Parisiens have the same number of European titles - precisely zero.
The 56-year-old Galtier thus leaves after only serving one year of his two-year contract at Parc des Princes. He has already said goodbye to the players and will officially leave his post after tonight's curtain game against Clermont Foot.

Former Nice, Lille and Saint-Etienne coach Galtier was asked what was his worst moment since arriving in the French capital - and the answer was utterly predictable.
"The two games against Bayern in the Champions League, surely. We had good games before and after those two, and I was happy to lead the team to the Ligue 1 title. I was proud to be a part of PSG."
So, Messi is leaving, Sergio Ramos is leaving - and so is the head coach Galtier. Whatever it was that the Parisians built - it's being torn down. It's time for yet another rebuilding job.
